G. Eldridge Antiques has an inventory of 20th and late 19th century artists. Most of our paintings are by well listed artists and members of the National Academy. We tend to favor seascapes, landscapes and marine paintings by members of the Old Lyme, Rockport and Boston schools. Paintings purchased from us may be "traded in' at the original purchase price to upgrade to a painting of higher quality and price. Paintings listed as "signed by" or "by" are, in our opinion a work by the artist and are fully guaranteed as such.
We both collect and sell Ukiyo-e and Shin hanga prints. All prints are framed in a simple black frame and are matted with acid-free materials. We try to provide an accurate description of the condition of these prints following accepted practice. We encourage inquiries from both experienced collectors and first time buyers. These prints are highly decorative and make excellent gifts. We guarantee authenticity.
Country Furniture
We feature carefully selected examples of country furniture from the Queen Anne through the Sheraton periods. We emphasize candlestands, one and two drawer Hepplewhite and Sheraton stands, Windsor chairs, blanket chests, etc. In most cases we try to retain the original finish on these pieces. To the best of our ability we will identify repairs and replacements in our descriptions.
G. Eldridge Antiques carries Shaker furniture and decorative items made for both the community and "for the world". We always have a selection of so-called production chairs from the Mt. Lebanon community as well as early side chairs and rockers made for use in the communities. Many items, such as sewing carriers, swifts, stools etc. are a good way to get introduced to Shaker collecting.
Decorative Items
We offer a varied collection of decorative and collectible items. In our catalog we list a good selection of traditional decorative accessories such as, brass candlesticks, andirons, pewter, baskets, etc., among the many items making excellent gifts. In addition we often list one-of-a-kind primitive, native art or folk art items that, in our opinion, have historical or artistic merit.
