This is a very ornate Victorian arm chair. The crest is arched and banded with decorative wide applied reeds in an overlay design applied to the back. Below this is a very ornate panel of beadwork and curlicues framed by cane wrapped posts. The arms are serpentine, ending in fancy twist-wrapped rosettes. The decorative reedwork and curlicue panels below the arms add significant strength to the design. This chair has a set in cane seat and shapely beaded full skirting. Cane wrapped cabriole legs with fancy twist-wrapped balls on the front feet ending in brass caps. This is an exceptionally fine Victorian arm chair. Circa 1890's. |
