This pattern is photographed and described on pages 42 and 43 of "American Brilliant Cut Glass" by Bill and Louise Boggess. In that book the authors say that "Russian is the most intricately cut and possibly the best known of all patterns. Phillip McDonald, who designed it, assigned the patent to Hawkes on June 20, 1882." This piece has a broad shallow bowl supported by a wide based pedestal. It has very sharp cutting into a heavy crystal form. It has a great shape in one of the most popular patterns! Circa: 1890 Dimensions: 4.5"H x 10"Diameter Finish: Excellent cutting with no major flaws. VERY minor nicks on the base (very typical) Price: $1650.00 |
