Impressive walnut Victorian Gilbert #16 standing Regulator clock. It has a top crest featuring a carved Egyptian bust, applied rosettes, incised carvings and fancy turned finials (restored). The case is beautiful with open carved sides, incised carvings, raised burled panels and even an inset burled panel in the interior behind the pendulum. The frame around the dial is all incised carved - even on the sides (see photo). It has an original movement with single weight, dead beat escapement, and a three vial crystal pendulum. The mercury has been removed for obvious reasons. There is a 12" porcelain dial with two original hands. A replacement sweep second hand was purchased for the clock after these photos were taken. Accept for the three small finials on top and sweep second hand, this clock is in absolutely wonderful as found original condition - just the way the serious collectors like to find them. It even has the remnants of the original label on the back (see photo). A very impressive and desirable clock! It can be seen on page 161 of "Longcase Clocks and Standing Regulators" by Tran Duy Ly. Circa: 1875 Dimensions: 106"H x 34"W x 13 Finish: Great original finish and patina Price: $24,500.00
