Lovely full size Aesthetic Victorian faux bamboo birdseye maple bed attributed to R.J. Horner, NYC. This bed has a very fancy design with open spindle work in both head and foot boards. It has four large balls on the top of each bed post. The headboard and footboard both have a rectangular raised panel in the middle and other recessed panels. All these panels, as well as the outline of each side rail is bordered by a fancy quarter round bamboo molding. This bed is slightly larger than a normal full size bed. It is 2" wider and 4" longer.

This gives plenty of room to make the bed. American made faux bamboo furniture from this period is scarce. An example of a vanity in this style is shown on page 140 of "Masterpieces of American Furniture from the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute." R.J. Horner is generally recognized as the leading manufacturer of such pieces. Circa: 1890 Dimensions: 67"H x 56"W x 78" (between the rails) Finish: Excellent polished original finish and patina Price: $6950.00 |
