Matched pair of laminated Rococo Victorian oak armchairs attributed to George Henkels, Philadelphia. The chairs have curved open carved backs. They have extensive incised carvings. They have elegant finger carved arms and cabriole legs. One of the chairs has replaced castors in front. They were both reupholstered by the previous owner. Henkels employed the practice of laminating his parlor furniture much like his sophisticated NYC counterparts. Most pieces were done in walnut and rosewood.
