Great oak partner's library table desk. The solid quartered oak top has an intricately carved rim. Two boards that are joined in the middle of the top have a very minor age separation. There is a writing slide that comes out from one end (see photo). The curved skirt is fully carved with a drawer on either side. The desk looks identical from both sides. There are intricately carved lion heads for pulls on the drawers. There are four fully carved standing winged griffins holding up the top. The detail of the carving is superb. Each griffin even has a carved long curved tail. There are three large carved columns in the middle. The table sits on large claw feet. This table was likely made by R.J. Horner but we can't make a definitive attribution. Circa: 1900 Dimensions: 31"H x 54.5"W (with slide closed) x 38"D Finish: Good original Price: $9750.00 |
