The drawer pulls are lion heads and the corners are carved with well defined faces. The table has rope turned legs and stretchers with three shapely carved finials on the stretchers. Page 162 of "American Furniture of the 19th Century" shows some chairs by Roux with similar turnings and carvings. On page 166 of the same book the table skirt is rendered much like the skirt on this table. Roux often employed carved heads in his designs. This is a fine table by one of the most renowned New York City furniture makers of the period! Circa: 1850 Dimensions: 30"H x 48"W x 30"D Finish: Good original. The top of the middle finial has been chewed by an animal. Price: $4850.00 |
