Richly carved curved moldings are above and below this band of carving. Floral and leaf carvings and rope twist columns adorn the bed and mirror frame. The dresser has a beveled bulls eye round mirror which is attractively echoed in an inset round figured mahogany panel in the bed. The siderails on the bed have tall returns at each end with turnings, raised panels, and carvings. The bed has the original fancy double castors that elevates it just off the floor. The dresser has an unusual base arrangement with three drawers over two center drawers and a cupboard on either side. The original cast brass hardware is especially nice with a face in the middle. The two top side drawers have the original velvet liners (some staining to the fabric). The twist columns, various carved motifs, round mirror/panel design, fabulous hardware, deep carved moldings, and marble are all signs of the superb quality and craftsmanship of this suite. The bed is between queen and full size giving it the extra room that most beds of this period don't have. Circa: 1890 Dimensions bed: 94.5"H x 58"W x 77"L (between the rails) Finish: Excellent original with a rich patina Price: $7500.00 for the two piece suite |
