Wonderful cherry Aesthetic Victorian carved cabinet made by Herter Brothers. The front of the cabinet is all carved and features a head in the middle of the top, two carved finials and a standing open mouthed winged griffin in the base. There is a open pierce carved gallery on each side. There are raised beveled panels on the top of the sides and front of the base. Beveled glass mirrors are under the top on each side. The front top doors are richly carved raised panels. This cabinet came with an original brass key with "HB" in the top. It is a very heavy and intricately made key. We have have never seen one of these before and believe it to be quite a rarity on its' own. I have also photographed the locking mechanism on the left cabinet door. It is more sophisticated than most - a further indication of the care and quality that Herter took with his pieces.
