The middle portion is raised with lovely leaf and acorn carving under the top. The front is decorated with carvings and rope twist columns. There are four original adjustable shelves in each of the bookcase sides and five in the middle (only four are shown in photo). The base has three drawers with fancy original cast brass hardware. This bookcase is extremely heavy and well made! The beveled glass - especially the bowed middle - is a feature you don't normally find on a bookcase from this period.
