Elegant Victorian Walnut Two Piece Jeliff Parlor Suite with
large open carved crests that have very well done three dimensional Jenny Lind
heads, shaped raised burl with incising, and delicate carvings. The arms
have beautifully carved women heads (slightly different details on the sofa
and chair, indicative of the individual craftsmanship). There are three sections across
the back of the sofa with more open pierced carvings that connect the sections.
The front aprons are gently curved with burl and more carvings in the centers
with nicely turned and tapered feet. The upholstery is old but quite usable and the wood patina is warm, rich, and original. This set has very
graceful lines, exceptional carvings throughout, and the frames are sturdy
for everyday use.
