Important quartered oak secretary attributed to the Wooten Desk Co. This fabulous desk has a fancy carved gallery with returns and finials. The desk interior has a number of wooden drawers and three made of the original cardboard (one wire pull has been replaced). A new surface was put down by the previous owner. The base has a roll up front that exposes four wooden drawers, a cardboard drawer and several file slots. There are carvings on each side of the desk. Notice the fancy metal lid supports for the desk. These are also typical of the Wooten Desk Co. The lid itself has incised carvings. The back and sides of the desk are finished and have deep recessed panels. The very top surface of the desk must have had a seam split because someone added a thin 1/8" piece of wood between two of the boards.
