Fabulous Victorian boxed porcelain and sterling silver demitasse set. The set consists of twelve cups and saucers, a sterling teapot, creamer and sugar, sugar tongs and twelve demitasse spoons all in the original case. The case and sterling pieces are signed "Bartens & Rice, NYC." The porcelain has a mark which is similar to one in pattern #61 in Porcelain Marks of the World by Emanuel Poche. The maker is "Niedersalzbrunn." We have wonderful documentation that accompanies this set. It was given as a 50th wedding anniversary gift to Mr. & Mrs. John Bogert of Brooklyn, NY in 1891. The silver pieces are dated and monogrammed with their initials and we have photos of them along with the invitation to the anniversary party. Two of the saucers have small flaws.
