We are pleased to offer this signed queen Anne style "Wooten" desk. On Oct 6, 1874 William S. Wooton was granted a patent for the "Wooton's Patent Cabinet Office Secretary." He produced his desks in Indianapolis from 1874-1884. These desks are considered the best made during the Victorian period and are highly prized by collectors today. This one has three embossed hinges on each side.

The pictures here show the many fine details including the various compartments, cubbies, drawers, drop down lid with gold tooled leather surface, fancy carved gallery, burled panels and fancy metal mail slots and handle. We had the original finish on this desk polished and overcoated with a thin coat of new finish. The sides on this desk swing out. When the desk is closed the sides sag and don't quite meet at the bottom (see photo). This commonly happens over the years on these desks Circa: 1880 Dimensions: 69.5"H x 42.5"W (closed) x 32"D Finish: Polished and overcoated original Price: $18,500.00 |
