Dated 1876 Pier Mirror Stylish Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian pier mirror with
open carved crest. The frame is decorated with raised burled panels, gilt
incised carvings, applied carvings, fancy finials and original ebonized
accents. The mirror is original and has some silver loss and a slight 1"
crack in the top left corner. The back is missing over the mirror but for a
small charge we could have something made for you. On the back the
inscription "Jan 1st, 1876" can be seen. There are some minor chips in the
frame. The mirror sits on a wonderful shaped base with an original salmon
colored marble. A fine pier mirror with great proportions!

Pair of Carved Walnut Mirrors Exquisite Pair of Unusual Victorian Walnut Carved Hanging Mirrors in the
Black Forest style. (Please note that the mirrors are the identical same size despite the given
angle of the camera). The mirrors have beautiful open pierced carvings with grape and leaf crests and more fine
openwork along the perimeter with vines and branches. The mirrors appear to be a recent
addition. The original wooden backs are inscribed in old writing "Vivian B. Hoff from
Lillian K. Anderson."

featuring two intricately carved winged gargoyles in the crest. They are
facing a central crest with grapes. We believe this mirror is Continental.
The carvings are very well executed!

Elegant Gilt Incised Walnut Mantel Mirror Elegant Victorian Walnut Mantel Mirror with the original
gilt incising and burl panels on the side stiles. The rosettes and base carvings
are also decorated with burl and gilt. The best part of this mirror is the open
pierced carved top crest. It is especially well done, retains the original
brilliant gilt, and comes off easily for safe transporting. The original back is very well
constructed. The large mirror is also original and clear with "diamond dust"
at the bottom. A couple small areas of burl have slight wrinkling, indicative of
age. This handsome mirror is meant to go above a mantel but could be
used easily elsewhere in the home.

Fancy Rococo Victorian Gilt Pier Mirror Magnificent Rococo Victorian hanging pier mirror with the
original gilt. The fancy open carved crest features a cornocupia top with a
lion's head in the middle. A intricate floral wreath drapes down below the
arched top of the mirror. There is a very small chip in the left corner of
the bottom but this mirror is in about as good original condition as they
can be found in. There is a fancy rope border and beading on the sides.
This is a wonderful mirror from an opulant era!

Early Reverse Painted Hall Mirror Early Reverse Painted Split Column Gilt
Hall Mirror with turnings and rosettes on each corner.
The colorful reverse painting is particularly well done depicting a seated
woman in period dress and feather hat holding a book.
The scene is surrounded with a scallop crest at the top with
graceful floral drapes and roses with leaves on the base.
We removed the back to inspect it. It is all original and period.
It even has the original 19th century dust!

Renaissance Revival Walnut Cheval Mirror Magnificent Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian cheval
mirror. There is an open carved crest on the top of the frame with a finial
on either side. Raised burled panels and applied carvings embellish the
mirror frame and supporting structure. There are fluted rectangular columns
on each side. Fancy cast brass threaded knobs hold the pivoting mirror to
the frame on each side. There are raised shaped burled panels and carvings
on the base. The wooden back is original. We offer cheval mirrors for sale
but this one is earlier than most. We seldom find them in this style and in
walnut. The perfect compliment to a walnut Victorian bedroom suite!

Cherry Victorian Three Part Tailor's Mirror Wonderful cherry Victorian three part tailor's mirror. The
tops of each section have a lattice work and ball design. A series of sausage
turned moldings adorn the frames of the mirrors. The thick 1 1/4 inch beveled mirrors in all three sections have some loss to the
silver backing - typical of mirrors of this age. There are shaped rope
turned columns between the mirrors. Two way brass hinges attach the side
mirrors to the middle one allowing the user to pivot the side mirrors in
both directions. The unit rests on six carved claw feet with the original
brass castors. A lovely functional mirror of a most appealing design!

Mahogany Dressing Cheval Mirror Lovely mahogany cheval dressing mirror. The shaped
beveled mirror has double line inlay around the frame and floral inlay at
the top. There is some cloudiness in the original mirror. It is held on to
the standing frame with two original brass threaded rings. The entire front
of the frame also features floral and line inlay. This piece was likely
made by either RJ Horner, NYC or Paine Furniture Co, Boston.

Tyler and Hibbac Cheval Mirror Elegant mahogany standing cheval mirror. The shaped
beveled mirror has some silver loss and written on the back of it is
"Tyler and Hibbac, Chicago 1907" (see photo). The top of the mirror
frame has some carving and it is held on the supports by two fancy
original brass threaded bolts. The curved harp is carved and has a
four legged beautifully carved platform base with the original
castors. The back of the mirror is finished and has a small divot in
the veneer. A very stylish standing mirror!

harp on stand with double insert and old
bristle brush. One insert retains the original gold wash and
this was for the soap mixture. The second insert is for waste water.
The original beveled mirror silvering is in great condition.
Signed "Forbes Silver Co. USA" in three places. Some tiny dents and
normal wear to the silver plating.

John Willard Walnut Over Mantel Mirror Ornate large late Victorian walnut over the mantel mirror made by "John Willard Looking Glasses 257 Canal St. New York" (signed on back). This piece features five beveled glass mirrors, fancy columns, open carved fretwork, applied buttons, turned finials and other carvings. It is missing some small moldings on two of the drops - not very noticeable or significant. A very impressive and lovely mirror!

Rare Faux Bamboo Hat Tree with Mirror Rare faux bamboo Victorian maple hanging hat tree. The
original rectangular mirror is framed by a very intricate bamboo
design.
There are three "J" shaped hooks above the mirror and two below.
Each one
rotates from side to side. There are also two smaller curved hooks
at the
bottom that rotate up and down (see photo). A most interesting
piece for
the collector of faux bamboo furniture!

Pabst Carved Walnut Gothic Hall Mirror Fabulous walnut Modern Gothic walnut Victorian hall
mirror on
stand attributed to Daniel Pabst, Philadelphia. The top crest has
a lionhead in the top and open carved flowers beneath. There are
exceptional
carved finials on each corner. The top has seven fancy turned
finials for
hats. The center mirror (some normal minor silver loss) has a deep
bevel
and is surrounded by an
intricately carved floral border. Ten recessed carved panels are
under the
mirror. The mirror sets on a base which attaches to the wall.
There are
two drawers with fancy carved fronts and great lion head pulls
where one
opens the drawers by pulling on the lions mouth. A Pabst side
cabinet with
an identical pull, but with a ring in the lions mouth, is shown on
page 14
of the Bulletin of the Philadelphia Museum of Art from April 1977.
This was
a special issue devoted to the work of Pabst. The sides of this piece
have been cut out to accommodate house moldings in the past - see
photo.
This is a magnificent piece made by one of the most renowned
craftsman of
the era!
