11131

60" Solid Claw Foot Carved Top Table Fabulous 60" solid quartered oak dining table made by
"Grobhiser and Crosby Furniture Co, Sturgis, Michigan." Part of label is on
one of the pedestals - see photo. The top has an exceptionally fine tiger
oak grain and features an intricate band of carving several inches in from
the edge. The thick skirt has a deep rounded curve. It has a split
pedestal base with very thick carvings and dynamic well defined claw feet.
The table has an original center leg and a mechanism that draws the base
together when the table is closed (see photo). We purchased this wonderful
table from a local estate. It came with no leaves but has slides so that
leaves could be used. We have three 12" wide leaves that we would sell with
the table. Further work would be needed to have them fitted to the table,
carved (if desired) and finished to match the top. Of course the table
looks best in the round form without leaves but the leaves would add
versatility. This is one of the best claw tables we have offered for many
years!

Circa: 1900

Dimensions: 31.5"H x 60"Diameter
Finish: Good original finish and patina - very vibrant grain
Price: $7950.00 Without the leaves
Price: $600 for the leaves. Any work custom fitting would be
extra

31202

R.J. Horner Carved Oak Server Wonderful solid quartered oak server attributed to R.J.
Horner, NYC. The crest, typical of that found on the better Horner pieces,
is intricately open carved. It features a bust at either end, dolphins, two
figures blowing horns, and a central convex oval surrounded by a wreath with
a face beneath. There is a middle drawer underneath the surface that has a
lion at either end and a carved mask in the middle. Notice that the
interior wood in the drawer is also oak. A fully carved semi nude woman
forms the frontal supports. A bookcase with similar carved women and masks
can be seen on page 70 of "Victorian Decor" by Martin M. May. This piece has
very vibrant tiger grain. There is a slight water stain on the top. This
is a great example of the quality and detailed carving found on the best of
R.J. Horner furniture!

piece has a wonderful open figural and floral carved crest associated with
Horner's work. The back and front of the seat are carved with flowers,
gargoyles, masks and reclining figures. The curved arms have three
dimensional heads and other carvings on the sides. The seat lifts up to
reveal a large storage area. The bench rests on large bun feet. This bench
is pictured on page 79 of "Victorian Décor" by Martin M. May. There is a
number stenciled in the back - a trademark of Horner furniture. It is a
great example of the quality and carving of one of New York City's premier
furniture makers of the late Victorian era!

161095

Pair of Laminated Oak Chairs by Henkels Matched pair of laminated Rococo Victorian oak armchairs attributed to George Henkels, Philadelphia. The chairs have curved open carved backs. They have extensive incised carvings. They have elegant finger carved arms and cabriole legs. One of the chairs has replaced castors in front. They were both reupholstered by the previous owner. Henkels employed the practice of laminating his parlor furniture much like his sophisticated NYC counterparts. Most pieces were done in walnut and rosewood. Items in oak are very rare! 51113

Griffin Carved Oak Partner's Table Great oak partner's library table desk. The solid quartered
oak top has an intricately carved rim. Two boards that are joined in the
middle of the top have a very minor age separation. There is a writing
slide that comes out from one end (see photo). The curved skirt is fully
carved with a drawer on either side. The desk looks identical from both
sides. There are intricately carved lion heads for pulls on the drawers.
There are four fully carved standing winged griffins holding up the top.
The detail of the carving is superb. Each griffin even has a carved long
curved tail. There are three large carved columns in the middle. The table
sits on large claw feet. This table was likely made by R.J. Horner but we
can't make a definitive attribution.
