251063

Signed Victorian Wicker Corner Chair Rare Victorian Wicker Corner Chair in the Natural Original Finish
with Turkish influence in the design. The center top has two large curls and a center
knob and base with ornate turning on the bottom. The arms have fancy open work
and wonderful bulbous side stretchers. The caned seat is in amazing original condition.
There is more fancy openwork on the base with a variety of weavings and curly Q's. Some small
wrappings have been replaced and a few are missing. There are some small areas of
minor repair to the wicker. The original red paper label underneath is intact and reads "Heywood & Morrill
Rattan Co. Chicago." The small amount of restoration to this chair is slight compared
to the rarity of its form and overall fine natural condition. An outstanding and beautiful example!

Oak Triple Mirrored Vanity Most unusual fancy quartered oak vanity. This piece has a central beveled glass mirror (some normal fading of the silvering) with carving at the top, and two shaped side mirrors that pivot (see photo). Four shapely turned finials adorn the top supports. There are substantial open carvings between the mirrors. The backs of the two outside mirrors feature an inset quartered oak panel with applied carving held in with a rope molding. Two curved jewelry drawers are above the surface. The base has a serpentine front with three drawers with cast brass hardware. There is contact paper on the bottoms of all the drawers. This could easily be removed. Gentle curved legs with carving at the tops are in the front. This is a very attractive and utilitarian piece. We have never had this form before! Alexander Roux Library Table Super quality walnut Victorian library table attributed to
Alexander Roux, NYC. We had an olive green leather with a tooled edge
installed in the top surface. The top itself has an intricately carved
edge. There are extensive applied carvings on both drawers and around the
entire skirt. The drawer pulls are lion heads and the corners are carved
with well defined faces. The table has rope turned legs and stretchers with
three shapely carved finials on the stretchers. Page 162 of "American
Furniture of the 19th Century" shows some chairs by Roux with similar
turnings and carvings. On page 166 of the same book the table skirt is
rendered much like the skirt on this table. Roux often employed carved
heads in his designs. This is a fine table by one of the most renowned New
York City furniture makers of the period!
Circa: 1850

Rococo Rosewood Drop Leaf Table Fantastic rosewood Rococo Victorian drop leaf center table.
It looks like the work of Alexander Roux but we can't make a definite
attribution. It is certainly New York City made with the detail of the
carvings and the satinwood interior wood in the center drawer. This elegant
table has a large shaped top with a beaded trim extending around the entire
edge. It can either be used with the two leaves up or down. The back of
the table is exactly like the front but without the drawer (see photo with
leaves down). The skirt has floral carvings and "S" moldings along the
base. Notice the beautiful carved leaf supports on the sides! The base is
flowing and exuberantly carved in the best of the Rococo tradition!
