Signed Thomas Brooks Walnut Chest Massive graduated seven drawer Victorian walnut chest signed
"T. Brooks & Co, Brooklyn, NY" on back (see photo). There is an original
white inset marble on the top. The top slants down to a band of burl. Each
of the drawers features two original knob pulls set into a ring. The drawer
fronts have book matched burl veneer with half round carvings at each end.
Each side has a bold detailed top carving with fluting on three quarter
columns. The inset panels on the sides are also burled. The is a wonderful
quality chest with very usable drawer space and is signed by one of the best
makers of the period!

Thomas Brooks Rosewood Secretary Gorgeous rosewood Rococo Victorian secretary made by Thomas
Brooks, Brooklyn, NY (see photo of back of cabinet). It has an open carved
crest on top that dowels into a top shelf (some warp to this shelf). This
shelf is supported by two fancy turnings in front and a horizontal mirror
behind. Note the two fancy decorative "cups" in front of the mirror.
Beneath this is a beveled mirror two door cabinet with ornate turnings
decorating the sides. The mirrors are original and remnants of the original
yellow silk backing remain (see photo). We could easily have these mirror
backs recovered in the fabric of your choice. The desk interior is
exceptional. Like the interior of the drawer and cupboard, the interior
frame is a light satinwood. The four rosewood drawers with line inlay and
lid provide a stunning contrast. A new leather with gold tooled edge was
installed for the writing surface. The drawer has a carved bottom edge with
a shell in the middle. The desk is supported by four elegant cabriole legs
with rose carvings on the knees. The key works the top door locks and can
be used as an aid in opening the desk lid. The vibrant grain of the
rosewood on this desk is spectacular. This is a super quality desk by one
of the eras premier furniture makers!

Mahogany Thomas Brooks Mirror Victorian Rococo Mahogany Hat Tree Mirror with original
oval center
mirror in a shaped molded frame. The top crest is wonderful with
delicate carvings
and hanging three dimensional fruit, nuts and leaves. The eight
turned wooden hat hooks
are all original and there is unusual open fretwork on each side.
The mirror features more fine carvings with
leaves and scrolls on the edges and a pretty shaped shelf with lift
top lid under the mirror that is
supported by a cut out bracket with a petite finial. We have had
this same form before
and that mirror had the original Thomas Brooks, New York, label.

Rare Thomas Brooks Oak Half Commode Rare quartered oak half commode signed "T. Brooks,
Brooklyn,
NY" underneath the marble. The original marble has minor staining on
the
top and has all four corners cut to match the contour of the base. The
drawer front, door panel, base, back and side panels are all made of
highly
figured walnut. There are bar pulls on the drawer and door to the
cupboard.
The oak and walnut are a very unusual combination of woods. Brooks
is one
of the best cabinet makers of this period. This is a very
interesting and
attractive example of his work!

Lovely Thomas Brooks Walnut Center Table Lovely large walnut Victorian oval center table attributed to
Thomas Brooks, NYC. The skirt has deep sausage carvings. The center
pedestal of the base has super ring turnings in with applied buttons. The
four legs have deep fancy applied carvings and a graduated set of five balls
on each platform. The table has the original brass castors and a glass top
that was added for protection (not shown in photo). A really impressive
center table!

Lovely Brooks Rosewood Rococo Etagere Lovely rosewood Rococo Victorian etagere attributed
to Thomas Brooks, NYC. The top portion has a carved arched crest, four
large finials and a multifaceted concaved hooded top with carving in the
middle. There is a central mirror and three smaller mirrors on each side
along with three shaped shelves held up by fancy turned spindles. It has
the original white marble and mirrors. The base has two front curved legs
and a mirror in the back. We have another complementary rosewood etagere
that is signed by Brooks. It has a very similar crest, sides and turnings.
This is the firm evidence that we have to attribute this piece to that
maker. A handsome piece!
