Twelve Victorian Dining Room Chairs Rare suite of twelve high style mahogany Victorian dining room
chairs with two arms. The shaped backs have a number of open carved cutouts
and carvings on each side. The skirts have a gentle serpentine shape and
are made of figured mahogany. The chairs have finely turned legs in front.
The leather on the seats is in good shape - they were done by a previous
owner. Most of the chairs retain their original castors that are signed
(see photo). When we purchased these chairs they were in need of a number
of minor repairs which we have done. They are now in good usable and tight
condition. These chairs would be the perfect complement to a large walnut
or mahogany Victorian dining room table. Even though they are mahogany they
would also match the original walnut patina of the tables we offer for sale.
Large suite like this, of fine quality Victorian dining room chairs, are
very hard to find!
Circa: 1860
Dimensions: 41"H x 24"W (arms) 38.5"H x 18.5"W (sides)
Finish: Fair original finish - good old patina
Price: $16,500.00 for the twelve

Pair of Laminated Rosewood Side Chairs Matched pair of laminated rococo rosewood Victorian side
chairs made in NYC. They feature open carved backs with a rose in the top
crest and a cluster of grapes and leaves in the middle. The nearly
identical chair is shown on page 94 of "American Furniture of the 19th
Century" by Eileen and Richard Dubrow. There are several small splits in the outer layers
of the laminations - very typical in chairs of this type. The fabric
on the seats is old. We could have them recovered in your fabric for an
added charge. A nice pair of documented Victorian chairs!

71080

Rare Belter Rosewood Swivel Office Chair Very rare laminated rosewood Rococo Victorian swivel office
armchair made by John Henry Belter, NYC. The laminated backs have a "S"
scroll on either side with open carving at the top. The carving where the
arms attach to the frame is very similar to the armchairs shown on page 96
of "American Furniture of the 19th Century" by Eileen and Richard Dubrow. The
back and seat are all set to be reupholstered in fabric or leather. The
base has solid rosewood carved legs (some old solid repairs). When we
purchased this piece the top would swivel but not go up and down. We had a
small threaded piece professionally made so that it can now screw up and
down. We have never owned a office chair by John Henry Belter before. We
believe it to be one of very few made!
Circa: 1850
Dimensions: 39"H (at lowest setting) x 23"
Finish: Good old patina. Possibly refinished in the past.

Carved Oak Corner Chair Most unusual solid oak Chippendale style centennial corner
chair. It has an elaborately carved curved back, curved fluting on the
arms, a rope turned spindle under each arm and middle of the back, and open
carved back. It has three wonderfully styled cabriole legs ending in ball
in claw feet. The upholstered seat slips out and needs to be covered. We
could have that done in your fabric if you desired for an extra fee. This
style is most often found in mahogany. Very hard to locate one in oak!

High Style Rosewood Armchair Superb quality and style Renaissance Revival rosewood
Victorian armchair. There is a brass rosette attached to the top of each
side. The entire chair is decorated with original gilt incised carvings and
fluting. Applied carvings, including grapes, are on each arm. The original
old fabric on this chair was all frayed so we had it removed and the chair
structurally tightened to be all ready to reupholster. We have a bag with
all the old fabric and springs that will go with the chair if requested. We
believe this chair was made by Pottier and Stymus, NYC but we can't make a
firm attribution. It is very high style chair with great workmanship and
design!

Laminated Rosewood Armchair by John Belter Rosewood Rococo Victorian armchair made by John Henry Belter.
It features typical Belter "C" scrolls in the back with a lovely floral
crest. There are detailed floral and grape carvings under the arms, skirt
and cabriole front legs. The chair sits on the original brass castors. The
fabric is old. There are some very minor blisters in the top layer of
laminate on the back of the chair. I could not find this pattern
referenced. It is somewhere between the more common Rosalie and Henry Clay
patterns by Belter. This is a solid attractive armchair by the foremost
furniture maker of the period!

The nearly identical chair is shown on page 101 of "American Furniture of the

of the most desirable of those that Belter made. They were reupholstered by
the previous owner. They have a few normal small veneer chips on the bottom
