Victorian Wicker Photographers Chair Wonderful Victorian wicker photographers chair made by Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company. It is shown on page 57 in the reprint of their 1898 catalog "Classic Wicker Furniture" with introduction by Richard Saunders and referred to as "Fancy Reception Chair." It is also shown on page 146 of "Official 1984 Price Guide to Wicker" by Richard Saunders. If you look at your old pre 1900 photographs of your great grandparents and uncles you will find many of them were taken using this chair as a prop. Two such photos, taken from "Collector's Guide to American Wicker Furniture" by Richard Saunders, are shown here. The chair features spider web caning, curly cues, bird cages, stick and ball, and machine caned seat. The seat and web caning have been redone at some point. The back is a bit loose and would not tolerate heavy use. This chair is meant to be exhibited like a work of art and decoration. A classic example of Victorian wicker! Circa: 1890 Dimensions: 44"H x 31"W x 19"D Finish: Good refurbished original finish. Some of the wrappings have been replaced. Price: $2150.00

open pierced carved crest. The incredible crest on this chair has life size leaves and flowers
that go all across the back with center scrolling and roses (see photos). The finish is
original, old, and slightly flaking. The upholstery is very old and stained. The open arms are gracefully shaped with deep finger carvings and there are flowers on the apron base. Handsome Pair of Rosewood Jeliff Chairs Handsome Pair of Renaissance Revival Victorian Walnut Jeliff Chairs with open pierced carved crests. The crests have prince heads and the original gilt with more carvings on the sides. The chair backs are framed in burl around the perimeter with wide open side arms and large wide seats. They are decorated on the aprons with corresponding burl, gilt, and fine carvings. The legs are turned and tapered with casters on the front legs. There are new casters on one chair. The upholstery is old and should be replaced for regular use. There is some slight age lifting on the very back of the seat edges (see photo) and one tiny piece of carving is missing off the head area of the orange upholstered chair. These very heavy chairs are exceptional quality. We do not see many Jeliff examples in solid rosewood.
