Birdseye Maple Tile Bedroom Suite Fabulous Birdseye maple and walnut Aesthetic Victorian period
three piece bedroom suite. The top surface of the half commode and dresser,
as well as the upper crest of the bed and dresser mirror, are decorated with
original floral tiles. The bed is extra wide and long with interior
dimensions of 59.5"W x 78.5"L. Note that queen size is 60"W x 80"L. One
could order a slightly smaller box spring and mattress and have virtually
all the advantages of the extra queen size. Each piece is decorated with
deep incised carvings, spool carvings, turned finials and recessed panels
with slanted and vertical line carvings. The recessed panels are surrounded
by a fancy carved edge. The dresser and nightstand have drawers with
original nickel plated ring pulls. The mirror in the dresser is original.
The side rails on the bed are quite fancy and feature high returns where
they attach to the headboard. The darker walnut was used by the maker to
frame and enhance the beauty of the predominate birdseye maple. There are
recessed brass castors on the dresser and stand. We have the original large
bed castors for the bed (not shown in photo). This is a extremely well made
suite in a most unusual and attractive design. The large (almost queen)
size bed is a difficult thing to find from the Victorian era!

carved curved moldings are above and below this band of carving. Floral and
leaf carvings and rope twist columns adorn the bed and mirror frame. The

an inset round figured mahogany panel in the bed. The siderails on the bed
have tall returns at each end with turnings, raised panels, and carvings.
