Antique Biedermeier
Chaise Lounge / Fainting Couch<
This fabulous chaise measures:
70 inches wide
26 ½ inches deep
31 inches to the top of the high arm
23 inches to the top of the low arm
40 inches high to the top of the scroll on the back.
30 inches high to the top of the low back section.
These lounges are sometimes called Fainting Couches.

I believe this dates to sometime in the late 1800s. It is in very good condition for its age.
Make sure you check out all of the photos.
The Biedermeier concept of furniture originated in Germany and Austria in the early part of the 19th century. It is a style that was in part influenced by French Empire, English Regency cabinet making and neoclassical architecture. Following the Napoleonic wars after 1814, Biedermeier style furniture catered to the newly prosperous bourgeoisie in Austria, Germany and Northern Europe with clean, simple and understated furnishings as a sharp contrast to the opulence of traditional French furniture.
