Hunzinger walnut chair manufactured by George Hunzinger, New York………..
Up for sale is this Walnut side chair Signed "HUNZINGER " which is original excellent condition. There are no repairs or replacement parts.The side chair measures approximate 33 ˝ inches tall.This chair has been in one family for over 140 years and has been their treasure.The next owner will only be the 2nd owner outside the family...
Dated & Signed..March 30,1869 on the back stretcher.
George Hunzinger was born in Germany in 1835.His family had been cabinetmakers since the 17th century. He emigrated to New York at the age of 20, already trained as a furniture maker as one of many German cabinetmakers, including the Herter Brothers, who came to the United States to flee the political / economic turmoil in Germany after 1848.
