In 1968, after the Democratic Convention in Chicago before the Presidential election, the Republicans put out a fear campaign during the Convention.
The street violence and anti-war demonstrations were out on control.
The message was that if the Democrats couldn't control their own city, Daly was the mayor at this period, how on earth could they keep order in 50 states.
