Friedrich F. Boehle 1873-1916 woodblock print Born in Emmendingen,Germany, study of art in 1886 at the Städtlische Kunstschule in Frankfurt and studied briefly in Munich in 1892.He worked as a painter, sculptor,graphic artist,and his work ranged from portraits and landscapes to calendar art and posters, but he was best known for genre scenes in the German tradition and ignored modernist modes of art.
This piece of Art was found in one of the most important German family’s located in Bergen County, N.J. and is dated 1910.
The piece was found in the original old frame and measures approximate 24 ½ inches high-25 ½ inches wide.
Although in the original frame,this rare piece of art deserves a much better presentation.

HAND COLORED MEZZOTINT ENGRAVING
titled
" A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND IN DEED"
This Engraving is of a Charming English Georgian Girl sitting by a mahogany tea table, dressed in elaborate clothing, being entertained and feeding her small slice of bread to her friend the bird.
These subjects were extremely popular in the late 18th century and frequently made into engravings.

Size: 15 ¼-13 ¾ inches un-framed…21 ½ - 22 ½ inches framed under glass.
She is marked…PROOF…(These impressions were printed before the publication of the first edition and were probably struck from the plate at a customer's request. Perhaps ten to twenty Open Letter Proofs exist for each engraving…. MEANING RARE..!!!)
The Engraving has both the Signature by the artist on the bottom right side and the engraver in the left

Exhibited in the arts under the Austrian, French and Dutch regimes and a member of the Royal Institute of the Netherlands
