Size: 9'H x 57"W x 32"D

Rare turn-of-the-century Imhof & Mukle Orchestrion music machine in perfect working condition. Using a wooden barrel (10 extras included) and over 100 pipes these machines played music of the day as well as classics and operas. They were used in music halls, private homes, and houses of entertainment for men back in the 19th C. It plays soft beautiful music of flutes, clarinets and violins. Imhof and Mukle was established in Germany in 1845 and was a major builder of large automatic
orchestras (orchestrions). They moved to London in about 1895 where this incredible machine was
made. Originally running on heavy weights hanging from the back of the machine (like a grandfather clock) this was converted to electricity for easy use. Can be converted back to crank anytime.

This is one of the larger machines of which few survived and even fewer made it across the long ocean voyage. This orchestrion has a variety of pipes simulating flutes, violins and clarinets. It also has a drum in the back which can be turned off at will. You are guaranteed a WOW when your guests push a button to hear a full orchestra in this fantastic victorian cabinet.
