Hepplewhite, with elegantly splayed French feet, cherry with mahogany veneered drawer fronts and top edges and contrasting string inlay, pine secondary wood, original pressed brass hardware and locks, New England, circa 1790-1800. For a similar example see "Fine Points of Furniture" by Albert Sack, Pupl. 1950. This chest is almost identical to the Sack example with the added feature of the oval banding in the apron. Height 37-1/4", Width 42-1/2", Depth 23-1/4".
