Antique Wood Glass Candle Lantern Primitive Early Wood & Glass Candle Lantern. Rectangular design, wood frame with glass panels. Attached candle cup to wood base. Size: 15 ½" including handle. Condition: Generally good.

I was very excited about acquiring a good amount of antiques from the Woolworth Family and I’m happy to present them to you. Here is a little history of the Woolworth Family: During the late 19th and early 20th Century the Woolworth Department Stores were one of the most famous names in department stores both here and in Europe. Everyone growing up remembers the Woolworth Five & Dime store in their town. In the early 20th century, one branch of the Woolworth family came to Maine and acquired hundreds of acres of land on beautiful Cobbossee Lake in Monmouth, Maine. Over the years, the compound has grown to approximately twenty-six buildings, some of which were filled with antiques collected all over the world and with a discerning eye.

CP003

Antique Victorian Boot Scraper Cast Iron Here is a fantastic Victorian boot scraper – very much in the Aesthetic movement design. It is cast iron with its original paint which is just the way we like to see it a little bit worn etc. The boot scraper is mounted and has been on this very old block of wood for quite a while. I believe originally these would have been mounted into the cement step. It is in very good condition and it weights a bloody ton. It dates from the last quarter of the 19th century. It measures 12 3/8" at widest x 12" at highest x 6" at deepest.

CP007

Rare Antique Tiger Maple Massachusetts Sideboard This is a rare, elegant and petite American Bow Front half Sideboard. It is in a very rich birch and tiger maple. Having two drawers over two cupboard doors that are flanked on each side by wine cellar drawers with a long drawer at the bottom ending in a very shapely cut out skirt. It has nicely turned and reeded columns with a shapely back splash. The condition is very good considering that this sideboard dates from around 1810. There is a crooked vertical crack in the side panel - due to age and it has been there for a very long time. There are also a very few minor stresses to the surface. The wood is rich and buttery with a wonderful rich patina. It is nicely finished off with tiger maple drawer pulls. It measures 45" high x 40" wide x 20" deep. Attributed to cabinetmaker Alden Spooner of Athol Mass.

aa2585

19th Century Table Top Sewing Machine Here’s a little blast from the past, gosh you can’t have more fun than this! I just couldn’t resist this little table top sewing machine. There is no makers name on it that I can find .It is really heavy , all in the original black paint with Anglo Japanese Aesthetic Movement stenciling on it .The wheel & plate are most likely nickel on brass or metal & of course these parts are in the original worn condition .There is a compartment on the side that allows the top part of the machine to open out & in that compartment are a few little tools , like a wooden handle screw driver & an oil can & a few other small original implements. With a little bit of oil to the working parts, this little beauty would be considered perfect! It measures 8 ¾" high x 11" long x 7" wide .I’m going to say that it probably dates from the 1880’s.

19th Century Adirondack Twig Table One of the greatest 19th century Adirondack twig tables .This one is just the way I found it .It has a minute amount of remnants of old green paint that has worn off over the years. The exposed wood is dry but yet has great rich warmth to it. The style is so fascinating, it is just as knotty & gnarly as can be but tastefully so! The table is in very fine condition, is very sturdy & a very rare find indeed! Dating from the 19th century & measures 26 ¼" high x 20 ½" diameter of top & 20 ½"span at the widest point on the floor.

T2994

Carved Mortar & Pestal with Face of Owl One very amazing Mortar & Pestal. From the 19th Century Hand carved & turned from a solid block of wood.Im not sure what the wood is exactly, very hard & solid with a super rich decorative grain, Quite possibly rosewood. You see the face of an owl looking at you don’t you ? Yes that’s right ,this is a true natural phenomenon! The face of an owl is the natural formation of the burling or knots in the wood. The wood grain is truly amazing & the patina is so elaborately rich& deep, so smooth it feels like silk. Very heavy in weight .It measures 11 ½"high overall including the pestle in place. The mortar is 7 5/8" High & diameter of top opening is 5 ¾".There is a vertical age crack on the pedestal of the mortar that is good & natural! If your looking for the all time best & most rare mortar & pestle ,this one would be it! From the Richards Estate in Camden Maine.
