M002
Mirror Reverse Painted Looking Glass Antique Gold Gilt Here is an absolutely glorious and wonderful antique mirror. It is American dating from approx. 1790-1820. It is all wood with beautiful gold gilding – it has a unique eglomise panel with a gold gilded design inside. On top of that you see a painted white panel with gold gilded carved applied scrolling work. All under the crest it has the beautiful federal balls. The mirror is in a wonderful state of preservation. Just the way you want to see it. Early and fine! There is a little bit of deterioration on the white and gold eglomise reverse painted panel but that it is fine that is just the way you want to see it – it is the original panel. It is very exciting – if you have Chippendale, Empire, Federal, Hepplewhite or Sheraton furniture this would go perfect. It measures 44 1/8"h x 24 5/8" at widest x 3 5/8" at deepest.

M005
Antique Carved Wood Gold Gilt Mirror Rococo Cherubs Here is a spectacular carved wood and gold gilded framed mirror. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The carving is superb and well defined encompassing a multitude of foliate swirls and shells. The top cartouche or crest is an outstanding cornucopia of fruit flanked by two putto – who I assume are two of the four seasons. The mirror ends with bold superior pierced carved shell. The gold gilding is in a remarkable state of preservation with some high and low burnishing. The mirror is beveled and is quite heavy. It is in very good condition – having a little spot or two – but when it comes to a mirror of this age this should be considered fantastic. It is quite substantial in weight and size measuring overall 41"h x 26 ¾"w and the mirror sight size measures 21 ¼" x 17 3/8".

M006
Queen Ann Continental Mirror 1700's This is an incredibly ornate and beautiful Queen Ann Continental Mirror. It dates from around the 1740’s and is all original! It is all carved, gold gilt and gesso. The condition is as we found it– there is one small patch to the mahogany above the middle of the mirror and as would be expected due to age there is some gold leaf that has flaked off. This grand mirror measures 54 ½" at highest x 22"w. The surface patina is very rich and mellow. The mirror is beveled and there is some silver backing missing to the mirror in spots but overall it nicely demonstrates the antiquity of the mirror.

aa2601
Brass Shaving Mirror Portrait Of Lincoln I highly suspect that this is definitely a one of a kind folk art piece here! This shaving mirror is just so interesting. It has a wooden base, oak or walnut & the stand is made of all brass fittings .There is a eagle finial flanking each side of the mirror on top .The framed beveled mirror turns completely upside down to reveal a picture of Abe Lincoln .I simply cannot tell what the medium of the picture is of Abe, it looks like it could possibly be stamped celluloid or perhaps a charcoal on paper? The frame is an attached double frame that is wood & gesso with a faux finish to look like ivory. The frame has a small chip out of the lower corner & can be easily repaired. The mirror is the original beveled mirror & has considerable age wear, but still presents well..Im pretty certain that this shaving stand dates from about the 1870’-1880’s.In good condition overall & measuring 17" L x 8" W Base & 21" high overall.

aa2724
Federal Mirror 1770 Philadelphia Breathtaking & rare is what first comes to mind at the very sight of this looking glass. Circa 1770 and attributed to John Elliott of Philadelphia .See Schaffer’s Mirror Book page 134 for a very close example of Elliott work. This mirror is in the richest mahogany with very nice grain to the wood .Perched in the center of the Carved crest is a finely detailed winged Phoenix .The side carvings do a spectacular job of giving this mirror dimention. The interior shapely edges are in gold gilt as well. This mirror is in exceptional condition ,having only what you would expect like some slight stresses in the veneer & veneer seams but all have been sealed with a great professional wax. The surface patina is so rich & lustrous & the gold gilding is truly elegant. A bit more toned down than what shows in the pictures. The mirror glass is very good .
Measuring 50" from very top to bottom x 23 ½" wide .

It measures 43 ½" high from very top to bottom x 34" wide across the widest part across the carving. I have great shippers so don’t worry about that.

M008
Sheraton Mirror Boston Maker Gold Gilt circa 1800-1820 Just exquisite - Sheraton period looking glass circa 1800-1820. This is one very outstanding & rare find! This frame is carved wood, gesso & fiery gold leaf with the original paper label on back that reads "Made by Edward Lothrop, Boston." It is a very impressive 46"W x 31"H. It has the original mirror glass which is now showing its age. It is getting a little worn & some what dull –It has been my experience that some people who have bought this type of mirror intended to put a new mirror in & then put the original mirror away , so that they would always have the original mirror – Some people could care less if the mirror is original or not & just replaced the mirror because they just wanted it to look good! I have several Sheraton mirrors in stock at the moment & they are all quite spectacular. so if you’re looking for another size let me know – This particular Boston Mirror is a unusually large size one for this period.
